TLCB REUNION 2005
click here for schedule of events
The
TLCB Annual Meeting and Reunion for 2005 will be held July 8-10 at the Hilton
Garden Inn, 1333 North Courthouse Road, Arlington, VA 22201.
Parking is free for registered guests. This is a very new
hotel in a fast-growing business and residential section in the Clarendon
neighborhood of Arlington a block and a half from the Courthouse METRO station,
which is two stops from downtown Washington D.C. and only two miles from The
Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Besides METRO, US Route 50 passes a few blocks from
the hotel. The Hilton Garden Inn
reservations number is 703-528-4444. The mailing address is 1333 North
Courthouse Road, Arlington, VA 22201. The location is just off Route 50 at
the Courthouse Road exit (see local area map, below).
The time is now past for guaranteed
availability of the reunion rate of $89. Late registrants should ask for the TLC
Brotherhood special meeting rate just in case it can be provided, but be
prepared to pay the full hotel rate at this time.
Reunion
registration is separate from hotel
reservations. Registration is a
$75 package deal per person, and includes at least: local transportation to
reunion events, Tourmobile pass in Arlington National Cemetery, picnic lunch at
noon on Saturday, and the President’s Banquet on Saturday night.

for REUNION REGISTRATION FORM)
Continental breakfast in the hotel is $7.95. Full buffet costs $9.95.
Close to the hotel front desk is what they call a "pantry," from which
you can buy food you can heat up in your room's microwave oven. Each room
has an Internet connection. If you are driving to the reunion, or renting
a car, parking for registered guests in the hotel's underground garage is
free. Within a few blocks of the
hotel are at least 25 restaurants of all types. The Courthouse area is very diner and shopper-friendly.
The hotel is easily accessible from all three major area airports. From National
Airport it is a short taxi ride, and you can even take the Metro Train from the
Airport ( on Blue Line going toward Largo, ride 5 stops to Rosslyn, then change
to the Orange Line toward Vienna and ride one stop to Courthouse Station; walk
1.5 blocks to the hotel).

TLCB QUILT RAFFLE INFO
As has become tradition, the TLC Sisterhood will again be conducting a fund raiser to aid the children of Thailand through the auspices of the TLCB Assistance Fund. Once again, the vehicle for the Sisterhood fund raiser will be a quilt to be raffled off at the reunion banquet. Fund raiser quilt styles have varied from year to year, but all have followed a patriotic theme, with emphasis on Brotherhood of Service to our nation.
This year’s raffle quilt will take the form of the ever popular “memory quilt. For those who are unfamiliar with the memory quilt, each block allows space for signatures, verses, dedications, unit patches, photographs of people living or deceased, planes and places, and other “memories” that are of special significance to the “purchaser” of the block. Almost anything you want that is in keeping with the spirit of the quilt can be applied, within the space limitations of the 5” x 5” blocks. The end result is a one-of-a-kind collection of memories that holds special meaning for all of us in the TLCB and TLCS. These are precious memories that bind us all in the spirit of brotherhood. The lucky winner of the raffle drawing will be owner of the quilt and, in a way, the caretaker of that collection of special memories.
To give one an idea of what a memory quilt might look like, the accompanying photo depicts the memory quilt that was presented to our dear departed TLCB member, Bev Haire before she passed away. (Click HERE and HERE to see larger photos) This year’s raffle quilt will follow this style, with a large TLCB patch commanding the center blocks of the quilt. Memory blocks will spread outward from there, separated by strips of red, white and blue fabric. The wide borders will also be comprised of strips of red, white and blue. The finished size will be somewhat larger than the one in the photo. Dimensions will be approximately 80” wide by 92” in length, suitable for covering a double or queen-size bed.
There will be 164 total memory blocks available for purchase. As in years past, the charge for each memory block ordered will be $5. As for the raffle tickets, we have simplified the pricing for this year’s drawing. In the past, the previous pricing scheme has caused some confusion. All raffle tickets are now $2 each, no matter how many you purchase. You may purchase an unlimited number of raffle tickets. Members are welcome and encouraged to sell tickets to friends and family. Every dollar raised will go to the TLCB Assistance Fund to help the needy children of Southeast Asia.
The June issue of the MEM will include a sheet of raffle tickets, which may be copied, if more tickets are desired. (Tickets are also available for download - CLICK HERE) Fill in the tickets with name and phone number where you can be contacted when you win the drawing. Send the tickets with your payment of $2 each to:
