I am running for a second elected term as one of our Members at Large, representing the membership on the TLCB Board of Directors. Who am I? Known sometimes on the list servers as “Air Force Lingy” I have been a TLCB member since May of 1998, and I am a charter member of TLCB, Incorporated. You may have seen my name attached to a number of articles in the MEM quarterly over the years, and I have had the pleasure of meeting many of you face-to-face at our annual reunions.
Many of you know I have also long been an active participant in the fund raising efforts of the TLCB. I have served on the Assistance Committee for a number of years, and since the year 2000, I have acted as unofficial liaison between the TLC Sisterhood and the TLCB in promoting the Sisterhood’s annual Quilt Raffle Fundraiser on behalf of the TLCB Assistance Fund.
I have served as a Member at Large for the last three years, the first year by appointment, and I was elected to my first two-year term in the office in 2006. I have found it a distinct honor representing the membership’s interests on the Board, working with other Board members to continually improve our organization to better serve its members and achieve our organizational goals. God willing, I look forward to further serving the membership and the TLCB in this capacity for another two-year term. I appreciate your confidence and your support.
In brotherhood of service,
Bob Wheatley
Sgt, USAFSS, Det. 4, 6922 Security Wing, Nong Soong, Thailand, 1967-1968
Bob Santo - Member-at-Large Position
I
enlisted in the United States Air Force in May 1966 atI have been a member of the TLC Brotherhood since January 7, 2000. Finding this brotherhood was a life changing moment for me. I know it has been for many of you as well.
In the time that I have been a member, we have had our ups and downs as an organization. We have lost some good people and gained many others. This is not unusual in any organization. We have been fortunate to have had some very good leadership over the years. We have always found a way to keep this very special organization going.
I
have been a member at large of the TLC Brotherhood Board of Directors since 2004 and a member of the Assistance Committee since 2005. I strongly support the work of our Assistance Program. What we do for the least of those in SEA in honor of our brothers who did not return home, will be our lasting legacy long after we are gone. It is my hope that we can connect to many more of the thousands who served in our theater of operations during the Vietnam War who need to know that their service was in a noble cause.Welcome Home

Enlisted in USAF on Aug 24, 1959 at Philadelphia, Pa. After basic at Lackland AFB, TX, and Automatic Tracking Radar School at Keesler AFB, MS, I was assigned to McClelland AFB, CA. Shipped to Keesler AFB, MS for schooling in Airborne Early Warning radar, EC-121 aircraft. Served in both 551st and 552nd AEW & C Wings. With many TDY’s to SEA, Keflavik Iceland including several Red Flag missions. I was discharged in Oct 71 and joined the 79th AEW & C Sq. USAFRes at Homestead AFB, FL. Recalled to active duty in Aug of 1973 and transferred back to McClellan CA until the 552nd was closed down and cross trained back into Automatic Tracking Radar and shipped to Hawthorne Naval Depot, Nev in Sep of 1977. Transferred to 632nd TCF (ASRT), Grafenwohr, GE in June of 1979 for a 3 year tour. Upon return to US I retired at McGuire AFB, NJ in 82. Went to work for RCA/GE/Martin Marietta/Lockheed Martin and retired after 21 years. Presently work for Manhiem Auto Auctions part time.
Met with the TLC at the first gathering at Dayton in 97 and have been with them ever since. I have filled many positions with the TLC Brotherhood. These include Chaplain, Vice President until appointed to the President slot upon the resignation of Dick Hopkins. My philosophy is not to micro manage the daily running of the TLC. I have made errors since assuming the President slot but we all are human. I can only do my best and I ask to be considered for an elected term and will try to improve my management of this great organization.

TLC-BrotherhoodChuck Wilcox - President
I joined the USAF on 12/15/1970 . I went to Lackland AFB in San Antonio Half way through Lackland I was told to report to the Green Monster and I was going to be given a series of tests to see if I qualified for the "intel field" having passed a language test screening. I was selected for Chinese Mandarin at Monterey at DLIWC.
Reported there in March 71 and graduated in October 71 and given AFSC 20331. Sent to Goodfellow AFB for radio cryptologic school and was selected for participation in the Airborne Program. I was given AFSC A20831 after GAFB. After numerous survival schools including physiological training at Webb AFB, land survival/POW schools at Fairchild AFB (in Jan/Feb no less), water survival at Homestead I got orders to Korea which were canceled while I was enroute. Wound up at Ft Meade/NSA for 18 months and on 4/73 was sent to Ramasun Station 6924th SS for one year. Reenlisted at Ramasun in order to get my follow on flying assignment to the 6990th SW on Okinawa (Kadena AB) and finish my college degree. After 5 years there, I was transferred to Offutt AFB in Omaha with AFSC A20871. There I flew in the Block 3 Rivet Joint Modernization Program and helped evaluate the RC 135V and RC135W models.
I flew approximately 125 combat support missions on board the RC135D/M models as a lead linguist, and instructor rated operator. I was also one of only about 6 linguists that were qualified to fly all of the mission orbit area off the coasts of Russia, Korea, China and the SRV. I left Okinawa with the Air Medal with 3 OLCs.... I ETSd in 80 and joined the FBI as a Special Agent and after 25 years working FCI matters, I am retiring in 08/31/08 (mandatory due to age).
If elected to the President's position, I look forward to attending the next TLC reunion, working with the BOD and meeting the many members that I have had the opportunity to only read about on line.
