PLEASE KEEP THESE PERSONAL USER INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE

The TLC Brotherhood uses Nexus.net for its communications supplier. Nexus in turn uses a popular mail server software program called “Mailman”. Most everything you need to know about Mailman and its operation, and how it interacts with you, can be found at the following web link: http://www.list.org/mailman-member/ The bottom line is our servers are now powered by cutting edge software, which is more secure, and much easier for our ListMaster to administer.

The three email servers the TLC Brotherhood maintains for its members are the Official server, the Mission server, and the Brotherhood server. Each server and its function is explained in the TLC Brotherhood server regulations. To send email to the Mission or Brotherhood server you have to be subscribed to the list(s) by our listmaster. The email addresses for the Mission and Brotherhood servers are:

the-tlc-mission@nexus.net

tlc-brotherhood@nexus.net

You can not reply to a message from the Official Server. Any replies to the Official Server will be automatically bounced.

You are no longer able to address cc's, bcc's, non-members or add multiple addresses to your posts to the servers. This is one of the practices that has opened the security door to spam and viruses. You can address your message ONLY to the Mission Server or ONLY the Brotherhood Server and not to both. Messages containing more than one address, cc or bcc will be automatically bounced.

In addition, we are now able to allow message sizes up to 1000kb. I must caution you though, the maximum message size is 1000kb including the message, any attachments and message headers. Any messages larger than 1000kb will be automatically bounced.

You also need to know that Mailman is set to archive all messages on the Servers. These archives will be sent periodically to Texas Tech University to be included in the TLC Brotherhood History in the Vietnam Archives. Members and guests should be aware that ALL of their server email message traffic will end up at Texas Tech University. Comport yourselves accordingly.

Another advantage of Mailman is you will be able to control how you receive messages and be able to turn off and on message delivery from the Brotherhood and Mission Servers while you are on vacation. You no longer have to contact the ListMaster to accomplish this task. Members continue to post requests to be subscribed or un-subscribed from a server, either on the servers or b/c, even after we have posted messages telling you how to control your own email delivery.

If you saved your password notification for the lists, and each list is separate from the others, just pick a list and click on the member link and sign into your member page with your password. Change the mail delivery to "disabled" and check the box "set globally" (all lists). Hit the submit button at the bottom of the page. This will set all TLC lists you are subscribed to "nomail". Hit the big "submit" button at the bottom of the page. When you return just reverse the procedure and set mail delivery to "enabled" and "set globally" and hit the "submit" button.

One of the advantages of Mailman software is Members have complete control of their email delivery. If you do not like a thread, or if the traffic is too much, or if you are going to be away, you have the ability to control your own email delivery. You can sign yourself on and off of the Mission and Brotherhood servers as you wish. You do not have to ask or tell anybody. Just do it. It is not rocket science.

When you were subscribed to servers after the software change you received an email from the Mailman program containing your password and URL to change your email settings. You should have saved that message for future reference. You may still be able to find that email by going through your received or deleted items. If you have lost your email with your password you can easily retrieve your password.

To change your email settings or retrieve your password simply follow the steps below for the Brotherhood or Mission as the case may be.

1) You must copy and paste the appropriate URL shown below into your internet Browser. (Do not click on these URL's as neither will take you anywhere)

For the Brotherhood Server http://www.nexus.net/mailman/options.cgi/tlc-brotherhood/jblow@email.com

For the Mission Server http://www.nexus.net/mailman/options.cgi/the-tlc-mission/jblow@email.com

2) Replace "jblow@email.com" with your email address.

3) Click "GO" or hit enter.

That will take you to a page where you can change your email settings. If you do not have your password go to the "PASSWORD REMINDER Section at the bottom of the page and click on the "Remind" button and your password will be emailed to you.

If you cannot locate your password or instructions Mailman is set up to mail you a monthly password reminder for whichever lists you are subscribed to.

That is three easy steps to control the delivery of your email.

Thank you for your co-operation.

If you have a problem, which you likely will not, contact our List Master Back Channel for assistance. Do not post your requests on the Servers. Please contact Ed Heyliger, ListMaster at AmazingDrH@yahoo.com
